Spa Trillas Tamarit

Tamarit de Mar is an old village added to the city of Tarragona in 1956 and which extends around the mouth of the river Gaià. It has two distinct nuclei, Tamarit and La Móra, where there is a wide range of tourist accommodation specialising in campsites and holiday homes.

Historical heritage of Tamarit

The historical heritage linked to the medieval village of Tamarit is essentially preserved in the vila closa (closed town), still in existence; a private space belonging to the Marquis of Tamarit, where social and corporate events are held at the foot of the Castle and Jovera cove.

The Mèdol Quarry is located 2 km from the Móra beach, 9 km north of the city centre of Tarragona and is connected by the Via Augusta to the Scipio Tower. The Mèdol is a large pit more than 200 metres long, 10 to 40 metres wide and with a central 16-metre spire that shows the importance of stone quarrying in the construction of Tarraco.

Guided tours

Natural surroundings of the Baix Gaià

The mouth of the Gaià river is a Protected Natural Area and Natura 2000 Network located at the eastern end of Tarragona. Its natural landscape of riverside vegetation and areas flooded with fresh water follows the Gaià river from Ferran to Tamarit beach.

The GR-92 is the tourist itinerary that connects the Baix Gaià as it passes through Tarragona, making this footpath an obligatory route from Tamarit to the Marquesa Forest and its triangulation with the hill of Sant Simplici.

Cultural activities in Tamarit

The different cultural activities are managed by the different neighbourhood associations and cultural entities. There is also a wine tourism offer linked to the town's campsites where dinners with musical or theatrical entertainment are held.
