Join us before sunset for a pleasant walking tour starting at the Roman city walls. We will enter the walled Old City through the Portal del Roser gate and then visit the model of the city on the second century A.D., where you will easily visualize the layout of Tarragona during its Roman splendor, what's more we will watch an informative video which has virtual images of the period.
We will stroll through picturesque medieval streets to reach the Cathedral, a magnificent blend of 12th and 13th-century Gothic and Romanesque architecture built on top of a Roman temple.
Your guide, like any good host, holds the keys to some elegant courtyards in the Old Town and he will surprise you by opening them exclusively for you.
Then we will go up the Pretorius Tower, a lookout point offering the best views of the city and its typical rooftops, the Mediterranean Sea and the surrounding mountains. We will also visit the fascinating vaults under the Circus, the site of horse-drawn chariot races and one of the best preserved in the world.
After enjoying a colorful Miró masterpiece in the MAMT (Museum of Modern Art of Tarragona), we will end our tour at the home of one of the local human towers teams. The "Castells'' are a deeply-rooted Catalan tradition and we will attend a thrilling training session of the local team, where you may even be asked to join in!
Itinere guides Xavi, Georgia and Gemma are professional local guides with an excellent command of English, incredibly knowledgeable and extremely passionate about their city and its history. We use virtual images in our tours to help you better understand the history of our city, and at the end of the tour, we are pleased to offer you tips to enjoy the city to the full (restaurants, best spots, nice beaches, things to do in the city, etc.)
