Gai Bebi Myrisme was born a slave but gained his freedom and, as a Freedman, accumulated a great fortune and was even named sevir Augustalis. When life was at its best, an illness took his loved one away from him. An inscription, now incrusted into a wall in the Old Town, is a reminder of his love: “Fabia Saturnina, the best of wives”.
Tarraco was a little Rome, a port city, open to the Mediterranean, where a multitude of languages were spoken and it had especially pleasant weather; meaning, a good place to live and prosper. This is still the spirit of the city today.
